AB Pro Roller Hockey

Mar. 30, 2018

From AMRHA:

As the popularity of roller hockey grows across the Province, Alberta Minor Roller Hockey is always seeking ways to expand the sport. This spring we will be introducing the Alberta Semi-Pro Roller Hockey League. AMRHA executive will spearhead this opportunity to give way for the league to eventually operate semi-autonomous including their own executive and leadership. The provincial league will still fall within the Alberta Roller Hockey family and represent its teams and members at the Alberta meetings.

The pro league will be built on a similar template of Junior ice hockey where the league will be used to promote skill development and provide entertainment to the general public, while serving as inspiration for our younger teams. The teams will be run as clubs with their own financials that pay membership to enter the league. To ensure only the top competition and promote the right conditions for the players to excel, the league will be capped at 8 teams. They will play a 12-game regular season and with a good strategic schedule to allow the teams limited travel. The top four teams in the league will finish the season at the Western Nationals in a play down round robin which will serve as exciting entertainment for the tournament attendees and spectators.
